Council Leader Peter Thompson has been accused of bias towards the east of the borough after appointing fellow Chiswick Councillor Paul Lynch, as an executive member for children's services.

An article published in the Hounslow Chronicle stated that 'at least six councillors' from the western part of the borough had signed a letter expressing their concerns and Cllr Thompson's 'dismissive approach' towards them. They also wote that they 'will be considering our position under your leadership'.

They believe that Feltham's Cllr Beverley Williams should have been considered for one of the posts which became vacant after the untimely death of Cllr Robert Kinghorn.

Cllr Thompson confirmed that he had received the complaint but explained that the councillor from Feltham did not have the experience necessary for the vacancies, the other of which was filled by Hounslow South's Cllr Lin Davies.

He denied that there was any split in the party.
